Moving the Ball

In a college football a young player and another player got into animated discussion on whether it was the receiver or the rushers that were the the main catalyst for the team's success.

Each player made their points. The receiver boasted the overwhelming yardage that he had gained through the aerial assault of the team - of all the touchdown passes he had caught. The rusher countered with all of the yards he had rushed. He boasted of the many touchdowns he rushed, the last minute yardage gained that resulted in a touchdown.

A coach that was sitting nearby heard the discussion, and after listening for several minutes, in disgust walked over and spoke to the two kids.

"Son, the point of football is not who scores the touchdowns but it is can we as a team move the ball."

I submit to you that as a christian movement we have gotten into celebrating the touchdowns but forgotten, the key is just to move the ball. More importantly to move the ball as a team. We only celebrate the big victories, but not the little gains we make to get there. Take a moment, right now and I mean right now, assess your local movement- are you obsessed with the celebration or are you happy with moving the ball. The comment section is now open.
