20 Feb Are Your Carrying Dead Weight?
Today I continued cleaning out my old server. As a hosting company, I had several hundreds of accounts I that I maintained for clients. Well a few years ago, I moved 90 percent of my accounts to a faster and better server. I only kept a few active accounts on that old server. As I went through the server this morning, I realized that I never deleted the old accounts from the old server. Here was the kicker, I am still paying the leasing fees for that server with all of those accounts. Some are still clients, but most have been terminated or moved.
Can you believe that!!! For years I have been carrying dead weight. For years I have been paying for the dead weight.
What was I afraid of?
I was afraid of losing some things. I was afraid to admit that these accounts were terminated or moved. Secretly I was hoping they would come back. I was betting what if?
Here is what I learned.
When moving up in the world, you can't be afraid to delete some things. You can't be afraid to let some things go. You can't carry people that don't want to support you.
If you want to keep it. Archive it, pack it, and put it away. No reason you have to keep it in your paying platform.
Translation.
While my situation deals with a physical server, you may be having this say issue in your company, your ministry or your life. Your paying platform might be your attention, your employees, or systems that are not working. Are you paying double?
Understand that some dead weight has to be archived, packed, and put away. Ask yourself, Are you Carrying Dead Weight?
